What is a Compliance Assessment?

A Compliance Assessment is a process to verify that organizations are in compliance to applicable environmental or health and safety regulations.

The compliance assessment:

  • identifies potential gaps in regulatory compliance
  • proposes measures to mitigate regulatory compliance issues
  • predicts whether there will be significant penalties if compliance is not achieved
  • includes a follow-up program

A compliance assessment is a risk management tool . The objectives of a  compliance assessment are to:

  • minimize or avoid issues of regulatory non-compliance
  • incorporate regulatory  factors into decision making.
About us

When should a compliance assessment be undertaken?

Compliance assessment should be conducted on a frequency compatible with the risks of the facility. High risk facilities more often than low-risk facilities.

The Sigma approach includes:

  • As required, an on site visit to gather information on various business processes and stakeholders.
  • A detailed report is provided that contains details on the applicable regulations as well as any problem found as related to each specific regulation.

This assessment complies with the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 section 9.1.2 – Assessment of Compliance.

Upon request, periodic updates on the regulations are provided.
